Basic Policies

* My main request in class is parent participation. Your child learns best by modeling your enthusiasm. Your child is not required to sit, imitate the teacher or do anything that they are not comfortable with.

*Our philosophy is that by allowing each child to experience the class at their own comfort level (whether sitting and watching intently or willing to jump into the spot light) they will grow musically and actively participate when they are ready. Also, realize that while you are modeling for your child, you are also acting as a role model for the other children in the class. YOU, are your child’s first and greatest teacher.

* Please understand that this class is meant to be FUN!!! It is not performance based. I and the other teachers expect your child to have fun at their comfort level & there is nothing they are "supposed" to be doing. Some children are active learners while others prefer to "take it all in". As your child becomes more familiar and comfortable with the teacher(s) and the room, their comfort level might increase at their rate. Also, please participate to the level that you feel comfortable but keep in mind that to your child, your voice is a beautiful, comforting sound that they love to respond to.

* Please be considerate of others and wait until after class to "catch up" with your friends. Talking during the class is not only unfair to your child, but it makes it harder for others who are trying to get the most out of the class. It is also very distracting to the teacher and the children when we are trying to sing over side conversations in class.

* I ask for intervention, or I may intervene if your child’s behavior is a concern for himself or others in the class. (Ex: throwing instruments, WILD running, etc.) The goal here is to keep the class safe.

* I ask that there be limited food or drink during class. Children attending class might have severe allergies and I ask that we all respect each others concerns for our children’s well being.

* Wear comfortable clothing, as we sit on the floor, jump, march, skip and are really active during class. During this time, the only expectation is that you will sing and play with your child/ren and give them 100% of your attention.
